Easy A

Easy A with Emma Stone was great! I loved this movie. It had lots of humor and sarcasm (which I love). Basically, the protagonist Olive gets paid to say that she slept with various guys from school, guys who pretty much would not have a chance with a cool girl like her. The guys in turn get to brag to their friends and get more attention from other females. Well it just so happens that a popular boy in school, who is part of the virgins group, gets "the clap" and tells his girlfriend (Amanda Bynes) that Olive gave it to him. In reality, it was the school counselor (Lisa Kudrow) who happens to be married to Olive's favorite teacher. Olive decides to keep the secret to herself. This gives her the reputation of a whore. Her life has been turned upside down. It was an awesome movie that I can't wait to own on DVD! This one ranks right up there with Whip It!

During the movie I kept thinking why I couldn't have been more like Olive in high school. It would have been so much funner!

My favorite line from the movie: Beat it, ese!

Overall, 5 out of 5 stars.

Here After

We went to see Here After with Matt Damon a couple of weeks ago. Take it from me, don't waste your money; not even a dollar when it hits RedBox. There are three storylines to follow: a woman who has a near death experience, a young boy who's twin brother is killed, and a man who can speak to the dead. It is not confusing, but there isn't any action either. The storylines are well crafted but do not intermingle until the very end. You're kept wondering if these 3 people will ever meet. The only interesting storyline is the one of the young boy. In the end, the main purpose of the movie is for the man to find someone who can verify the "here after" for him, i.e. the woman who died briefly. This gives him a sense that he is not insane. Overall, I give the movie 2 out of 5 stars.

Paranormal Activity 2

Hubby and I went to see Paranormal Activity 2 a couple of weeks ago (I know, I'm a little late). The movie had a very slow start. It was actually boring for the first 30-45 minutes. After awhile, I thought it was a little funny. The last 30 minutes or so were the "best". I enjoyed how the movie tied the storyline from the first movie. The ending was kind of like the continuing ending from the first movie. During the movie I kept thinking, "How does the first movie tie in?" And the answer is clearly revealed at the end. This second movie had a little more of the freaky factor because it involved a cute baby. Overall, I give it 2 out of 5 stars.

I think the girl from this movie is the same girl who played Opie's wife on Sons of Anarchy.

On Sunday, October 31, 2010, we saw the final chapter of the Saw movie series. After seeing Saw V last year, I just knew this one would be a joke. I was pleasantly surprised. It had a good storyline incorporating characters from the previous movies. The movie kept my attention because it did not reveal all of the details until the last few minutes of the movie. Of course, the games that Jigsaw played were new and interesting, and most definitely gory and gruesome. The fact that they decided to make the movie in 3D is an added bonus. I love scary movies. Overall, I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars. It is not a movie for the faint of heart. My favorite part is when her tongue falls out!

Why blog?

I started this blog for my own benefit. My husband and I are avid movie goers, but lately I've been forgetting the titles of movies I've seen. I can remember the plot but not the titles. This blog will help jog my memory as well as give you a simple review of the movie. Beware....there may be some spoilers!
